Almost five million people are struggling to survive in Sudan. An additional 460,000 refugees fleeing violence in neighbouring South Sudan have added strain to Sudan’s economy. The situation is dire. Ongoing conflicts in many parts of the country including Darfur, South Kordofan, and Blue Nile States have resulted in large-scale population displacement, the disruption of livelihoods, and food insecurity.

ADRA is responding by providing water, latrines, and training on safe sanitation and hygiene practices to thousands. Far too often women and girls must walk long distances risking assault and frequently miss school in search of enough water to meet their families’ daily needs. Your support is reducing the vulnerability of the women and girls fetching water by improving water supply and distribution systems, such as boreholes.

ADRA is also teaching people about how to protect themselves from waterborne diseases, promoting community committees to oversee water usage and cleanliness, and by installing household latrines.

Together, we are making a difference.
